U.S. News and World Report recently released their annual "Best High Schools" rankings. Several Cobb high schools were among the best in the state, and some even ranked high nationally.

With over 3 million graduates each year, education is a competitive industry in the United States. There are more than 24,000 public high schools in the country and over 500 in Georgia. Standing out in such a large crowd is a significant accomplishment.

Walton High School was the highest-ranked among the 17 Cobb high schools, winning the #5 spot in the state and #187 in the country. Walton was recognized as the third best school in the metro-Atlanta area. It also notched #46 in the charter school category and #164 in STEM schools nationwide. With over 2600 students, Walton is also one of the largest high schools in the Cobb County School District.

Close behind Walton was Lassiter High School, earning the #11 spot in the state and #321 in the country. Lassiter also ranked #7 among metro schools, making Cobb Schools one of only two districts with multiple schools in the metro-Atlanta top ten.

Rounding out the top 3 of Cobb Schools, Pope High School took the #24 spot in the state and #702 nationally. Pope was also ranked #18 among metro schools. Pope has just over 2000 students enrolled and ranks tenth in Georgia for math and reading proficiency.

Harrison High School and Hillgrove High School are ranked #4 and #5 in the District. Harrison is ranked #30 in the state, and Hillgrove took the #33 spot. Both schools boast well over 50% participation in Advanced Placement courses.

Even during a worldwide pandemic, Cobb's High Schools continue to excel; recently, the state of Georgia revealed that Cobb had scored higher than the rest of the metro on the most recent SAT's with schools like Campbell and Osborne showing 16 and 25 point year-over-year gains! Cobb continues to prove that it is the best place to teach, lead, and learn.
