Accelerated Intervention


The Cobb County School District provides personalized learning at all grade levels designed to meet specific academic needs in Reading, English Language Arts, and Mathematics. Cobb County School District adheres to the rules and regulations established by the Georgia Department of Education for identification and support of Early Intervention (grades K-5), Accelerated Intervention for remedial education programs (grades 6-12), and Response to Intervention. Personalized Learning may include one or more of the following components:

    • Student ownership of learning
    • Systematic use of data to personalize learning for student goals
    • Student voice and choice to engage learning
    • 21st Century life, community and/or college skills
    • Technology enabled learning using adaptive software
    • Just in time learning for targeted support
    • Blended models of instruction with collaboration and small group
    • Flexibility in student goals, learning process and product
    • Research-Based Practices
    • Evidence-Based Interventions


Early Intervention Program (EIP)


EIP provides additional instructional resources to help students who are identified as struggling learners obtain the necessary acceleration to reach grade level performance in the shortest possible time.

EIP provides additional instructional resources to help students in grades K-5 who are identified as striving learners, obtain the necessary acceleration to reach grade level performance in the shortest possible time.


MS/HS Remedial Education Program (REP)


REP is an instructional model designed for students in grades 6-12 who are striving in Reading, ELA, and Math. Local REP programs provide research-based practices and evidence-based interventions for personalized support at the middle and high school level.


Response to Intervention (RTI)


RTI is a 3 tier system requiring problem identification and analysis, research based instruction, intervention, and progress monitoring. Data is used on a regular basis to monitor student achievement and progress with adjustment to instruction and interventions as needed. Support becomes more individualized and specialized through tier progression.
