Principal's Message

Hello Spartan Families,

We are excited to announce that our Graduation Rate increased by 2.1 points to 88.6%! We want to thank our entire school community for supporting our efforts to assist each cohort of students to graduate in four years to prepare them for college, careers, and or the military.

If you missed our Hybrid parent meetings last week about our Campbell Advanced Placement Scholars (CAPS) Program and Advanced Placement (AP) testing, both PowerPoints are attached below.

As we continue to focus on teaching and learning each day, and to encourage students to focus during each 90-minute block, students are expected and required to put their cell phones in a cell phone caddy that each teacher has in their classroom. We also ask that parents not call students during those 90 minutes of instructional time.

If your student needs tutoring assistance, there are attachments below for each of the academic content areas and World languages with teachers' tutoring schedules. We also have Power Surge this coming Saturday for Math and Social Studies.

Please continue to check ParentVue for your student's grades and contact the teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

The Student Behavior Contract Letter was shared with all parents/guardians at This is Sparta. All students received a copy on the first day of school and it was reviewed with students during the grade level assemblies. A copy of the letter is in the attachment below and will remain for the remainder of the school year. Please review the letter with your student.

Please note that there is a change this year to the Early Checkout TimeThe Early Checkout Time has been changed to 2:45 PM

Campbell News

Campbell National Honor Society partnered with Keep Smyrna Beautiful to conduct a campus clean-up last Saturday. Over 40 students collected about 15 large bags of trash to ensure the campus looked nice prior to the IB Open House on Sunday. Attached is a group photo if you want to post/share it. Props to NHS Co-Sponsor Justin Franco for being here to run the event while I was in Athens for parents weekend at UGA.

The CHS Comfort Closet offers free personal care items for students and families in need.  There are two comfort stations on campus (located by the Counseling Department and by Ms. Fain’s office) where students may receive individual sized items as needed.  Families are able to visit the Comfort Closet to receive full sized personal & household care items by scheduling with Ms. Fain.  Thank you to all who have donated items during the September Comfort Closet drive promoted by PTA.  We genuinely appreciate the support!

The first 6 weeks are behind us, and we hope everyone had a chance to relax and reset over the break. Remember, trust the process (listed below 😉). Students are going to face bumps in the road or have uncomfortable moments seeing grades they aren't used to. When that happens, follow these steps:
Suggest the following to your students (you can say Ms. Wood said so 😉):
  • Check CTLS:  Some teachers record lessons, post all PowerPoints ahead of time, and provide lists of helpful websites.  Review notes/classwork: It's not just taking notes, but what we do with them that helps makes a difference. Check out this resource:    https://www.spartanburg7.org/cms/lib/SC02205954/Centricity/Domain/449/FNT%205-Phases%20Overview.pdf
-Attend tutoring: Do so with very specific questions. Teachers are there to answer specific questions about concepts, missed questions on quizzes/tests, or misunderstood content. If their teacher does not have tutoring at a convenient time, have them ask their teacher for a different time or peer tutor.
  1. -Talk with your teacher:  This can feel daunting, but teachers WANT to help. If it's easier to email, have them email for a time to talk.
  1. -Also, see The Counseling Corner each week in the Spartan Newsletter for helpful resources.
