Educators nationwide look to Cobb for support in learning how to help students succeed. That's why educators from outside of Cobb travel for miles to attend training events like STEMapalooza.
Cobb students continue to lead their Georgia peers on the SAT, ACT, and Georgia Milestones. Cobb schools rank among the best in the state, while the District has ranked as one of the best places to work for five straight years. That’s why educators come from across the country to attend Cobb job fairs.
“Taking care of our team is actually the best recruitment that I can do,” said Superintendent Chris Ragsdale.
Board Chair Randy Scamihorn agreed with the Superintendent and praised Cobb’s track record of success, “Thanks to every teacher and leader in our District, Cobb’s students continue to perform better than their peers, at the lowest cost to Cobb taxpayers. This past year saw our students receive over 150 million in scholarship dollars, which is only one example of the world-class education students here receive.”
The Cobb Teaching and Learning System (CTLS) helps power student and educator success, as noted by both a national award and an Ivy League study.
Year after year, Cobb Schools is the only government entity or corporation in the United States with 3 AAA credit ratings, signifying the District’s financial excellence.
For the third consecutive year, Cobb Schools has been recognized by the American Heart Association as the top school district in the country. Last year, Superintendent Ragsdale also earned the title of Superintendent of the Year by the same organization.
This year, Superintendent Ragsdale highlighted Cobb’s long resume of excellence while speaking at the most prestigious event for school superintendents, the National Conference on Education hosted by AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
Superintendent Ragsdale's address reflected the district mission of “One Team, One Goal, Student Success.” It showcased Cobb's academic achievements, employee satisfaction, and student safety.
As a 30+ year veteran of the education world, Superintendent Ragsdale emphasized, “We believe in the power of teamwork to achieve student success. Our teachers are passionate about education and dedicated to making a difference in the lives of their students.”
Cobb's “One Team” encourages educators to support each other, ensuring students receive the best education possible.
Speaking to education colleagues from around the country, Superintendent Ragsdale discussed initiatives such as integrating technology in education, developing the Cobb Schools online learning system, and the importance of offering families choices to meet the diverse needs of students.
“We use data to make decisions... that’s where technology can become an invaluable tool for education," Superintendent Ragsdale said.
According to Cobb's superintendent, technology should be a tool to help teachers take their students to the next level. One recent example is Cobb’s expansion of Prisms, which helps students learn math and science through immersive virtual reality.
Superintendent Ragsdale underscored the district’s dedication to aligning education with state standards and parental choice.
“We are committed to providing a high-quality education that meets the needs of all students,” he said.
