New School Updates

The following contains updated details, information, and protocols of our plan during our second semester of virtual learning. Please understand that guidelines, rules, and protocols are constantly evolving, and we will do our best to communicate those as we move forward. The information shared here is specific to Cobb Horizon High School and may be different from other Cobb County High Schools.
Cobb Horizon High School remains committed to breaking down barriers for our students and providing an opportunity for any student to earn their high school diploma. As we move into Quarter Three, we will remain 100% virtual with our instruction. We look forward to our building renovations being completed later this spring. We thank you in advance for your hard work, adjustments, and flexibility. Teachers will follow the posted daily schedule, provide direct and indirect instruction, communicate assignments and feedback through a variety of methods including CTLS Parent, Gradpoint, Zoom, TEAMS, as well as any other format that will improve student learning.
Teachers will respond to email and phone messages within 48 hours.
Teachers will be available during their planning periods for additional student remediation and individualized support.
Teachers will incorporate a variety of assignments, assessments, and multiple opportunities for content and standard mastery.
Teachers will provide a variety of summative and formative assessments, record grades, and update weekly.
Virtual learning will continue for the entire Spring 2020 semester. All students will be required to log in each day and work to complete required modules within the Grad-point platform just as they would in a face to face setting. While this is certainly not our ideal situation, students can be assured that success can be obtained if they maintain consistent effort as we move through each quarter. Students will be accountable for their work, effort, and grades earned. In December, we had approximately 40 students earn their high school diploma and look forward to celebrating the success of even more students in May.
Below are some specific items that will be daily expectations of all students in order to be successful:
1. Students will engage daily with their teachers, which includes but is not limited to participating in live learning sessions, completing assignment, assessments, and module completion in the GradPoint platform.
2. Students must maintain frequent contact with teacher through all available channels. Maintaining consistent effort and contact with teachers has proven to be the two most effective factors for student success.
WORK HARD…
STAY FOCUSED…
MAINTAIN CONSISTENT EFFORT!
In order for a student to be successful during this period of remote learning, attendance each and every day is imperative. Students are expected to sign in each day through the Gradpoint platform and participate in module completion during their assigned class period.
Any questions or concerns regarding student attendance should be emailed to ryan.nyeste@cobbk12.org
Teachers will assess, update, and record grades weekly. Students and parents will have access to student grades through the Parent Vue process. Specific questions about assignments and grades should be addressed directly with individual teachers.
If you need assistance with accessing Parent Vue, please contact Kathie Baker kathie.baker@cobbk12.org
