Weather Update

January 22, 2026 — As a significant winter weather system continues to approach Cobb, we know you are trying to make plans for the weekend and for school on Monday.

As of Thursday afternoon, here is what we know:

  • Governor Kemp has declared a state of emergency in preparation for the storm. We are in communication with his office and echo his recommendations.
  • Current forecasts include a wide range of scenarios, including rain, sleet, and/or snow, as well as the possibility of freezing temperatures. We are also in regular communication with the National Weather Service, which is updating us as their models change.
  • While we do not yet know what Monday will look like, we have already rescheduled all extracurriculars, including sports, originally scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
  • Over the weekend, staff will continue preparing our schools for severe weather and will be in constant communication with the state, county offices, neighboring school districts, and weather experts.

We may not yet know exactly what impact this storm will have on Monday, but you will receive an update no later than mid-to-late afternoon on Sunday.

Keep an eye on CTLS Parent, our website, social media, and traditional media for the latest information!

As we do every winter season, we will make weather decisions that prioritize your child and our staff’s safety.

Thank you for your continued partnership, and please remember to bundle up and stay warm as temperatures drop.
