World Read Aloud Day Celebration at Durham
SHARE
On Wednesday, February 5th, Durham Middle School celebrated the 15th annual World Read Aloud Day, a global literacy event celebrating the power of reading aloud. Teachers throughout the building read aloud to students in honor of the day. Sixth graders visited the theater with their reading and ELA classes and heard selections from middle-grades books read by teachers, counselors, and the library staff. Seventh-grade reading classes hosted virtual read-alouds featuring several favorite authors; students were treated to popcorn while they listened and sketched about a book, author, or the shared content. Eighth-grade ELA classes read aloud from the dystopian novels they are studying. To learn more about the origin and power of World Read Aloud Day, check out LitWorld.org.
