Through collaboration between Frey Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Ashley Sherman and Durham Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Erin Baker, Durham 8th-graders are invited to read their favorite picture books to Frey Elementary students in celebration of Read Across America (RAA) during the week of Tuesday, February 28th - Friday, March 3rd.  RAA is an annual reading motivation and awareness program calling for the celebration of reading. The National Education Association (NEA) shares on its website that "[m]otivating children to read is an important factor in student achievement and creating lifelong successful readers. Research has shown that children who are motivated and [who] spend more time reading do better in school." To receive an application form, interested 8th-graders should share their name and homeroom teacher's name with Library Media Specialist, Mrs. Erin Baker HERE.
