King Springs Elementary School is excited to announce its participation in Read Across Cobb Week, taking place from March 3rd to March 7th. This week-long celebration aims to foster a love for reading among students through a variety of engaging activities and events.
**Monday, March 3rd: Digital Discover**
The week kicks off with Digital Discover, where students will explore digital books and online reading resources. Students will have the opportunity to use Sora, the Cobb Digital Library, and Beanstack to discover new books and track their reading progress. This event encourages students to embrace technology as a tool for learning and discovery.
**Tuesday, March 4th: Reading Makes Us Bright**
On Tuesday, students are invited to wear bright colors and sunglasses to school as a symbol of how reading can illuminate our minds. The day will be filled with fun reading activities that highlight the joy and benefits of reading.
**Wednesday, March 5th: Books Take You Places**
Wednesday's theme, Books Take You Places, encourages students to dress up as their favorite book characters or in attire representing different cultures and places. Students can also come dressed as tacky tourists, adding a fun twist to the day's theme. This event aims to show how books can transport readers to new and exciting worlds.
**Thursday, March 6th: Reading Jogs the Mind**
On Thursday, students are encouraged to wear athletic or workout clothes to school. This theme promotes the idea that just as exercise is good for the body, reading is great for the mind.
**Friday, March 7th: Cozy Up with a Good Book**
The week concludes with Cozy Up with a Good Book on Friday. Students are encouraged to wear their pajamas to school and spend the day reading their favorite books in a cozy and relaxed environment.
**Special Events and Activities**
- **Dad's Club Reading:** On the morning of March 7th, members of the Dad's Club will be reading in classrooms. Sign-up is currently open for those interested in participating.
- **Beanstack Reading Logs:** Media Specialist Casey Hannaford will be rewarding students who log their reading on Beanstack with little surprises in their teachers' mailboxes.
- **Read Across America Bookmark Challenge:** Students are encouraged to design and complete a bookmark for the Read Across America Bookmark Challenge, showcasing their creativity and love for reading.
