The Pearson Middle School student dress code policy is available in your student's agenda. Please review the policy with your student.

Administrators & teachers shall enforce the dress code rule, and the principal or designee shall be the final judge as to the appropriateness, neatness and cleanliness of the wearing apparel, or whether or not apparel is disruptive, unsafe, or in violation of the dress code.

Students not following school dress code will contact parents to bring them a change of clothes. If students are not able to contact their parents, they will be placed in In-School Suspension (ISS) for the entire school day. Thank you for your cooperation.

Clothing and accessories that detract from the educational process are not permitted. We expect our students to maintain a level of dress conducive to learning that does not disturb the learning environment.

Students are NOT PERMITTED to wear:

  • Any type of headgear or covering (hats, sweatbands, bandanas, scarves, wave caps, hoods, etc.). These items are not to be carried around the school.
  • Pajama bottoms
  • Any article of clothing displaying obscene or inappropriate printing (i.e., alcohol, tobacco, drugs, weapons, harassing, obscene, vulgar, lewd, or prejudicial) either explicit or implied.
  • Tops that are too revealing: No bare midriff, cleavage, or backs • Pajamas • Decorative jewelry that is inappropriate or dangerous (i.e., sunglasses, dog collars, chains, spiked bracelets, medallions, wristbands)
  • Clothing which sags (The waistband of the pants, shorts, skirts, or jeans must be secured at or above the waist.)
  • Clothing, jewelry, emblems, badges, symbols, signs, or other things that are themselves evidence of membership or affiliation in any gang or are worn in a manner that constitutes evidence of membership or affiliation. A “gang” is defined in this policy as any group of two or more persons whose purposes include committing illegal acts or disruptive behavior.
  • Coats/vests in the building (sweat jackets, jean jackets, light jackets, sweaters, and hoodies are acceptable as long as the hood portion is not covering the student’s head).
  • Any clothing that is distracting or disruptive to the learning environment and school climate.
  • Short skirts or shorts. All shorts, skirts, and dress lengths may be no shorter than the length of the student’s fingertips when their arms are placed at their side. Jeans and khakis must be free of large holes that expose skin or undergarments.
