Students celebrate their graduation during the summer commencement ceremony.

As students and families across Cobb County were preparing for the start of the school year, a select group of Cobb students were biddingClass%20of%202024_summer%20commencement-17.jpg farewell to their time as high school students. Faces beaming with joy and accomplishment, about 80 seniors paraded across the stage in cap and gown to receive their well-earned diplomas during the Cobb County School District’s summer commencement ceremony.

Friends and family from all corners of the county gathered at Harrison High School to celebrate the newest graduates of the Class of 2024. Board Chair Randy Scamihorn and Board member Brad Wheeler joined other District leadership to congratulate the students on their success.

“Graduation is what it’s all about; it makes 12 years of work worth it. These graduates are ready for work and life because of Cobb educators, and they are more ready than their peers because they’ve been part of a world-class District for the last decade,” said Mr. Scamihorn.

As the Class of 2024 turns the page to new beginnings, the current school year is already in full swing. Cobb seniors are diligently working towards their own graduation, taking the final steps of their K-12 educational journey. The anticipation is building for the Class of 2025, who are poised to make their mark and continue the legacy of excellence that defines Cobb County School District.

Mr. Wheeler said, “When I talk to graduates and their families, the pride and excitement for their futures is written all over their faces. It’s a good reminder of how important it is to keep our schools focused on teaching, not activism, which threatens the quality of what Cobb families have grown to expect .”
