Principal's Message

Hello Spartan Families,

Please check your student's grades on ParentVue and contact the teachers or your student's counselor if you have any concerns. We have less than six weeks remaining in this semester.  It is really important that students not give up when they are so close to the end of the semester. Please encourage perseverance and persistence.

The End of Course Tests are coming up for students who are enrolled in American Literature, Algebra I, Biology, and US History. There are letters in parents' language of preference in the attachments below.

Parents and guardians, if you were unable to participate in our Hybrid Parent Meetings about Career Pathways and Work-Based Learning, the presentations are below: The first one is English the second one is in Spanish. If you have any questions, please contact Gerard.Brown@cobbk12.org or Breanna.Lewis@cobbk12.org

As we continue to focus on teaching and learning each day, and to encourage students to focus during each 90-minute block, students are expected and required to put their cell phones in a cell phone caddy that each teacher has in their classroom. We also ask that parents not call students during those 90 minutes of instructional time.

If your student needs tutoring assistance, there are attachments below for each of the academic content areas and World languages with teachers' tutoring schedules. We also have Power Surge this coming Saturday for Math and Social Studies.

The Student Behavior Contract Letter was shared with all parents/guardians at This is Sparta. All students received a copy on the first day of school and it was reviewed with students during the grade level assemblies. A copy of the letter is in the attachment below and will remain for the remainder of the school year. Please review the letter with your student.

Please note that there is a change this year to the Early Checkout TimeThe Early Checkout Time has been changed to 2:45 PM

IB News

THANK YOU to our amazing IB Board members and parents who came out to the two community events on Sunday.  We cannot host these events without your help reserving the clubhouses and sharing your experiences with potential families, so thank you!
Have or know an 8th grader interested in magnet programs? Remind them the magnet application deadline is December 2nd

Seniors: Encourage your seniors to keep their foot on the metaphorial gas šŸ˜‰. This semeter's grades truly matter for college acceptances and reflect their progress toward IB exams. (see handout sent to them in Remind)

Juniors: As your student faces challenges with the content and assessments in their IB level courses, encourage them to attend teacher tutoring sessions. Their teachers are the experts and can provide them with suggestions and support. Students who ask their teachers for help, review notes nightly, use Kognity (review readings, play Kognity challenges, etc.), keep planners for assignments, and form study groups are finding success with the new challenge of IB.

ACT/SAT testing schedule - we will provide a rising senior timeline in advisement after Novemeber, but our recommendations are to sit for exams in the winter/spring of junior year based on the student's schedule.

Save the Dates:
IB Booster Parent Mixer: Monday, Nov. 11th (see info sent in Remind and posted on socials)
Next IB Insights: November, 21st at 11:30.

Academic Advisement - we will send a link for students to sign up for advisement via Remind two weeks before their class's advisement begins. Students will receive a pass to report to the advisor for their appointment. We will also send course options through Remind. Advisement is ONLY in-person for students. Parents will join via FaceTime, Teams, or phone.

Class of 2026, rising Seniors: 12/3-12/13
Class of 2027, rising Juniors: 2/24-3/7 (note: 3/3 is a digital learning day, so all advisement appointments will be on Teams).
