Teacher Appreciation Month: Celebrating Cobb's Amazing Educators

May is Teacher Appreciation Month in Georgia, and we want to highlight and celebrate the educators who prepare our students for a lifetime of success.
Cobb Schools Superintendent Chris Ragsdale is clear in showing his own appreciation: "I often say we have two types of employees at Cobb: those who teach and those who support those who teach. Both are hard jobs, but nothing is harder, or more important, than our teachers who support our students every day," he said about Cobb's talented and committed educators.
This year, the Georgia Department of Education chose "My Teacher, My Hero" as its theme for Teacher Appreciation Month.
"Heroes are not defined by capes or superpowers but by quiet, steady acts of kindness, patience, and perseverance," said State Superintendent Richard Woods. "You are the ones who ignite curiosity, encourage resilience, and instill confidence in your students. You show up every day, ready to inspire and uplift, even in the face of challenges. You are problem-solvers, mentors, advocates, and role models—true heroes in the eyes of the children you teach."
"Cobb is the best place to teach, lead, and learn. But this doesn't happen by accident," explained Cobb Board of Education Chairman David Chastain. "Being selected by Forbes as the Best In-State Employer six years in a row doesn't just happen. Partnering with the University of West Georgia for the Georgia's Best program doesn't just happen. Our teachers put in 110% and we want to honor and reward them in every way possible, including paying them the most in the state. We appreciate our teachers for everything they do and the level of dedication they show to their craft. Cobb is the best place to teach, lead, and learn because we have the best teachers. Period."
May is a busy month for teachers as they wrap up their school year. Showing love and appreciation goes a long way to encourage and remind these selfless individuals how much they mean to us. During the month of May, help show your appreciation for Cobb teachers by tagging posts about these extraordinary educators with #thankacobbteacher.
A school district is only as good as its educational team, and we believe no one does it better than Cobb Schools. Please share your photos, stories, and gratitude for the teachers at your school all this month.
Thank you, Cobb teachers; you are the best! You make One Team, One Goal: Student Success a reality each and every day!
