Tune Out TV & Read Across America 2025
Do you like to read? Oh the places you will go with reading!! Help Davis celebrate our annual Read Across America festivities! We will be celebrating Friday, Feb 28 - Friday, March 7th!
Get ready to tune out the TV and grab your favorite books) to celebrate the joy of reading and honor the birthday of Dr. Seuss! And will you succeed? Yes, you will indeed! Tune out the TV/screen time during the week and encourage your student to read for at least 20 minutes per day.
This year students will be “Reading from the Pacific to the Atlantic!” The goal is for students to read enough books to travel from Savannah, Georgia all the way to San Diego, California. That’s a distance of 2,389 miles in length!
• Kindergarten and first grade students will count the number of books they read over the week - 3 books will equal 10 miles!
• Second - Fifth graders will track the number of minutes they read - 30 minutes will equal 10 miles!
They will be competing as a grade level. You can fill out and return the coupons sent home with your child, or log your reading in Beanstack!
Prizes will be given out during the whole week!!
We can’t wait to see which grade will travel the furthest!
