Shay Kappel is excited to join the Harrison High School staff as an Assistant Principal for the 23-24 school year. Her education career began as a special education teacher in Maryland and at Lassiter High School for her first seven years.  She moved to Ford Elementary School and taught for four more years, served as an SSA for two years, and then had the honor of being an Assistant Principal for the past five years.  She has loved her elementary experience but is excited to transition back to high school. She has served this area for the last 11 years at the elementary level and is thrilled to continue to invest in our community. 

One of Mrs. Kappel’s favorite things about our area is how giving the students and families are of their time and talents. She loves how Harrison community shows up to support local schools, attend community events, and work to represent our Acworth area well. 

She was born and raised in Maryland and moved to Georgia with her husband, Mike, in 2006. They have three children: Charlee (13), Lincoln (12), and Trent (10) who are active in sports and activities in the Harrison community.  They enjoy going to baseball games, hiking, water sports, and traveling. Mrs. Kappel and her family are thrilled to join Hoya Nation!
