Two Hillgrove High School Students Selected for State Superintendent's Student Advisory Board

October 20, 2025 – Hillgrove High School sophomores Adrianne Marriott and Jillian Taylor have been selected to serve on State School Superintendent Richard Woods’ 2025-2026 Student Advisory Council. They are among 79 students chosen statewide from more than 1,200 applicants.

Throughout the year, Marriott and Taylor will meet with Superintendent Woods to share feedback on how state education policies impact students in the classroom. The council also provides opportunities for members to discuss education-related issues, serve as ambassadors to their schools, and participate in service projects that benefit local communities.

“I am excited to welcome the students who will serve on the 2025-2026 Student Advisory Council,” Superintendent Woods said. “This council is about hearing directly from students – the ones experiencing our schools every day. These outstanding young leaders bring experiences and perspectives from every corner of our state, and their viewpoints and ideas will guide our work, ensuring we stay focused on what matters most: supporting every student’s success.”

Membership on the Student Advisory Council is open each year to Georgia students in grades 10-12 who attend a public school, including charter schools. Applicants complete essay prompts to share their perspectives on various education issues, including curriculum, assessments, teacher recruitment, and access to opportunities for rural students.

The first council meeting will take place in November at the Georgia Department of Education’s offices in Atlanta.

Cobb Schools congratulates Adrianne Marriott and Jillian Taylor on this outstanding achievement and looks forward to the leadership and insight they will bring to the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council!
