Speech & Debate

Lassiter entered 14 competitors in Alpharetta’s annual Treasure Hunt Invitational. The Trojans won seven awards in Informative, Impromptu, POI, and Novice Lincoln Douglas. Students worked hard all day and competitors earned awards in 5 of the 7 divisions we entered. Trojans missed clearing to elims in Oratory placing as the 7th, 8th, and 9th seeds. The 8th and 9th seeds (Anita McCray and Samuel Lamirand) were competing in their second and first tournaments respectively.

In Informative, Zarah Scott finished as Runner-Up while Tanisi Chunder finished 4th (In her first tournament ever). Lassiter won both awards in Program of Oral Interpretation: Emma Rasco finished Champion and Sophia Martin was Runner-Up. Finally, in Impromptu, Zarah Scott and Parker Glidewell advanced to finals. Parker Glidewell finished as Runner-Up and Zarah Scott finished 6th.

Finally, in Novice Lincoln Douglas, Aarya Lokhandwala went 2-2 at her first tournament and Adeleine Choi went undefeated in prelims and won her first elimination debate against Lambert in a 2-1 decision. Because there was no final round, she finished as the Runner-Up missing 1st seed by .1 points.

All competitors worked extremely hard. Congrats Lassiter Speech & Debate.
