The Lassiter Marching Trojan Band Competed in the 39th annual Southern Invitational Marching Contest held Saturday, October 19, 2024. The band competed in Caption Judging with 16 other bands in five band size classes. The marching trojan’s show entitled “unraveled: a return to life” features the music of Maurice Ravel, Evanescence, and Jerry Goldsmith; and tells the story of a mummy princess that “unravels” to return triumphantly to her thrown. The band had a very successful evening and was awarded:
- Class AAAA champions (for highest score in class)
- Best in class AAAA colorguard
- Grand Champion gold division for bands of 75-129 instrumentalists
- Most outstanding general effect gold division
- Most outstanding music performance in gold division
- Skip Wells sportsmanship Award (awarded to band observed to have highest level of sportsmanship/character during the contest)
- Dan Martin music excellence award for highest music score of the day
- Freddy Martin general effect award for highest overall effect score of the day
The marching trojans also had the highest score of the contest with a 93.9 out of a possible 100 points.
