Lassiter Speech & Debate named GFCA Speech Sweepstakes Champions - coach inducted into GFCA Hall of Fame

Congrats to Trojans Speech & Debate for earning the State Championship in Speech Sweepstakes and the State Runner-Up in Overall Sweepstakes at the Georgia Forensic Coaches Association (GFCA) Varsity State Championship held February 7-9. These honors recognize Lassiter as the best performing Speech Team at the State Championship and the second best Speech and Debate Team.
Individual award winners include:
- Program of Oral Interpretation State Champion - Emma Rasco
- Original Oratory State Champion - Prioska Baruah
- Program of Oral Interpretation State Runner-Up - Sophia Martin
- Informative Speaking State Runner-Up - Zarah Scott
- Impromptu Speaking State Finalist - Zarah Scott
- Original Oratory State Semifinalist - Annabel Dutta
- Original Oratory State Semifinalist - Samuel Lamirand
- Lincoln Douglas State Quarterfinalist - Adeleine Choi
- Public Forum State Quarterfinalists - Madison Kang & Niharika Raman
In addition, Lassiter Speech & Debate coach and Language Arts teacher, Jonathan Waters, not only won GFCA 2025 Speech Coach of the Year but he was also inducted into the GFCA Hall of Fame, which honors outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and success of speech and debate in Georgia.
