Debate team earns five championship awards at Gladiator Debates Tournament

The Lassiter Debate Team Lassiter’s Speech and Debate team had a successful weekend at Johns Creek’s Gladiator Debates Tournament. More than 145 students from 26 schools competed in the tournaments. Altogether, the team took home 15 awards. 

In Novice Public Forum, our two teams that entered finished as Co-Champions: Sally Dawood & Elizabeth Gavieres and Kshiti Tadimarri & Veer Bhardwaj. Sally Dawood earned the 2nd place speaker award and Elizabeth Gavieres earned the 3rd place speaker award. In Novice Lincoln Douglas, Kanav Ganguly (6th seed) & Leo Yadav (2nd seed) finished as Quarter finalists. Kanav was 2nd Speaker in the division and Leo was 5th.

In Impromptu (the largest division in the tournament), Lassiter took the two top awards with Parker Glidewell finishing as Champion and Zarah Scott fi nishing as Runner Up. In Dramatic Interpretation, Emma Rasco earned the Championship award. In Informative Speaking, Isabel Hollhumer fi nished as Champion and Zarah Scott was Runner Up. In Original Oratory, Annabel Dutta finished 3rd and Prioska Baruah earned 4th place.
