The Sounds of the Season: Fine Arts Shine During the Holidays!

December 18, 2025 — The cheerful sounds of the holiday season have filled the air as students have taken the stage to showcase their fine arts talents through joyful music and festive performances.
From Rocky Mount Elementary School, Allatoona High School, and Bullard Elementary School to Mabry Middle School, Compton Elementary School, and Dowell Elementary School, the annual Christmas at Piedmont event hosted hundreds of Cobb students from about 30 schools. They sang carols and danced while student orchestras and bands brought the holiday spirit to life with every note.

Closer to home, Cobb schools held concerts for their families and school communities. Mabry Middle School families did not need to buy tickets for an expensive symphony. Instead, families were treated to a free holiday concert inside the Lassiter Concert Hall, where students dazzled the audience with their skills on violins, violas, cellos, and basses.
Board Chair David Chastain was in attendance, applauding the excellent performance from the talented Mabry musicians.

Before the orchestra performance, the Mabry community filled the Lassiter Concert Hall for the annual holiday chorus performance, which helped kick off the holiday season and had attendees humming the holiday favorites as they left.

Down the road at Campbell High School, the school community enjoyed a Holiday Cluster Band Concert, which showcased the talented students at Campbell as they played music and participated in a toy drive at the school.
While many students shared their talents close to home, others are preparing to take their musical skills to a national stage. At Kennesaw Mountain High School, two students have been selected to perform in the 2026 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
The parade will take place on New Year's Day and will feature a marching band of 250 students from across the entire country, including the two from Cobb.
Junior Jackson Huff and sophomore Kevin Alvarado will set off for California in a matter of weeks to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Osborne High School’s Red Sea of Sound is also preparing to represent Cobb on a major stage as it heads to perform at the Alamo Bowl.
Many students shared their musical talents to brighten the days of those in the community. Some loaded their talents on buses and brought smiles to residents of retirement homes. At Kell High School, and many others across Cobb, high school students shopped alongside younger students in the district to bring them Christmas presents that they would have otherwise struggled to afford. As students wrapped their gifts, the band and orchestra performed Christmas songs. During the annual Shop with a Hoya event, student musicians brought the holiday spirit to the shopping experience.

Moments like these help explain why Cobb continues to be named one of the best places in the nation for music education year after year. To learn more about Fine Arts in Cobb and how students can get involved, you can click HERE for more information.
