The Susan Wing Scholarship awards $1,000 to a graduating high school senior who attended McClure Middle School in Cobb County for at least one year. This is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship. To be eligible, you must graduate with a minimum 2.5 GPA and plan to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school this fall. The scholarship payment shall be made directly to the approved school. In addition to completing both pages of the application, you must include one letter of recommendation from a significant adult in your life (unrelated). You must also submit an essay explaining how you have demonstrated one or more character traits Mrs. Wing held dear during her time as principal of McClure Middle School – Enthusiasm, Excellence, Ingenuity, and Encouragement. This essay must be 500-600 words, typed, double-spaced, and 12-point font. Because of the nature of this scholarship, you must also present proof of current membership in your high school’s PTSA. Finally, you must also submit an official high school transcript. Submit entries via email to jessicascirica@gmail.com by March 31, 2025. The McClure Middle School PTSA Susan Wing Scholarship Committee representatives will review your application. Applicants will be judged on academic ability, character, extracurricular activities in school and the community, and essay quality. All applications will be assigned a number, and the individuals reviewing the applications will not know the student's identity. The recipient will be recognized at an upcoming event at McClure Middle School later in late April/early May.
