Would You Like to be a Member of the NJHS?
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an international student organization with chapters in the United States, other U.S. territories, and around the world. It was founded by the National Association of Secondary School Principals. To be considered for membership, applicants must reach the five standards which include leadership, citizenship, character, service, and scholarship. The National Junior Honor Society recognizes students who exemplify leadership and citizenship, as well as provide educational opportunities for their futures.
Online applications will be accepted Thursday, March 21st through Friday, April 12th. Late applications will not be accepted. You can apply here using an Office 365 form (please note: the link will not work until Thursday, March 21st). Applications will only be accepted online and should be completed by the student (this is a student centered organization, we want to know what you have to say!).
In order to apply, you should meet the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled for a minimum of 18 weeks as a 6th or 7th grade student at McClure Middle School
- Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or above in ACADEMIC CLASSES ONLY, calculated in the SPRING (following the 3rd Nine Week Report Cards) for school year 2023-2024
- ZERO days of OSS (Out of School Suspension) assigned for school year 2023-2024
- No more than ONE day of ISS (In School Suspension) assigned for the school year 2023-2024
- TWO Teacher Recommendations scoring a MINIMUM of 20 of the 24 points possible on BOTH recommendations (Students will choose 2 teachers for the recommendations as part of the application process. (Teacher recommendations are private and will not be shared.)
- Submit completed application by the specified deadline - LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED
