Smitha PBIS Team accepting an award
It is my pleasure to recognize Smitha Middle School’s PBIS Team, who have earned the Distinguished PBIS Recognition Status for the 2023-2024 school year! Their unwavering commitment to building a positive school culture is reflected in their remarkable progress.
Smitha saw a 31% decrease in office referrals, a 34% decrease in ISS days, and an incredible 39.5% decrease in OSS days. Additionally, 90% of their students had just 0-1 office referrals, demonstrating the impact of their incredible efforts in fostering a supportive learning environment.

Speaking from experience, PBIS implementation is a "way of life" at Smitha and is woven into their day-to-day activities. Their students love the many ways they celebrate positive behavior at Smitha—Fresh Air Fridays, special treat pop-ups during lunch, positive postcards sent home, and the honor of being named Students of the Quarter for exemplifying Smitha’s Cardinal R.E.D. values: Respect, Excellence, and Dedication.  Additionally, Smitha students benefit from a strong implementation of the Sources of Strength program.

Representing Smitha’s PBIS Team, we have their team admin, Brittny Jones and coach, Melinda Allen.  Please join me in congratulating Smitha Middle School’s outstanding PBIS team for their dedication and success!
