This year, Smitha counselors were awarded the CCSD School Counseling Comprehensive Model Certification through the districts’ counseling department.  This rigorous certification process included the team meeting (10) standards considered to be essential in running a comprehensive school counseling program.  Smitha counselors elected to work with students who were experiencing behavior concerns related to emotional regulation. The Smitha staff was integral in allowing counselors access to identified students for a 6-week small group experience to support these students.  The team collected both outcome and perception data through pre/posttest and equipped students with skills to help them regulate their emotions.
