Julissa Martinez is the reason we have such a thriving HOPE Club and is responsible for organizing the Hispanic Heritage Assembly. She has a gentle spirit combined with the courage and passion of a giant. Though she leads HOPE quietly, she is confident and strong, earning the respect of both her teachers and peers. Julissa works diligently on every task and does not give up until the job is complete. Even during the summer, she reaches out to me to ensure that certain initiatives for the HOPE Club are in place, so all students at South Cobb can benefit from a great high school experience. When she asked me to advise HOPE two years ago, I felt honored, but I had no idea just how fulfilling it would be to work alongside such a wonderful young woman. She inspires me and reminds me every day of why I chose to be a teacher.
