Mission Statement
The mission of the Bryant Elementary Counseling Program is to assist all students in achieving academic success by providing guidance in the areas of academic, career, and personal/social development; counseling to help them overcome challenges that interfere with learning; collaborating with staff, parents and the community to educate students to become confident, responsible productive citizens.
Philosophy Statement
We believe that all students:
- Are capable of learning and achieving success
- Have the right and opportunity to participate in the school counseling program that supports academic, career, and personal/social growth
- Have equal access to a quality education that is developmentally appropriate and challenging
- Have the right to a safe, positive and orderly environment
And that a comprehensive school counseling program should:
- Reach every student
- Be preventative in nature
- Be an integral part of the total educational program
- Utilize ASCA Standards as the foundation for guidance curriculum that supports academic, career, and personal/social development
- Be implemented by credentialed school counselors and conducted in collaboration with other educators, families, and community
- Use data to drive program plans and activities
- Seek improvement each year based on results data
- Be evaluated annually by a building administrator using performance criteria specifically developed for school counselors
And that all school counselors will:
- Abide by the professional school counseling ethics as advocated by the American School Counselors Association
- Participate in professional learning activities that are essential to maintaining a quality school counseling program
