 Testing

Colleges and universities may require certain admissions tests as part of their application processes.  Below are links to the most common admissions tests.  Testing registration is through the SAT and ACT websites directly, not the local high schools.  The testing dates and locations are available on each website.

Other tests a student may take are:

  • Accuplacer- placement exam for 2 year and technical schools.  These are scheduled and taken at the chosen colleges.
  • ASVAB- aptitude/ career exam for entrance in the military.

HOPE, Financial Aid, and Scholarships

Financial Aid

Financial Aid is an umbrella term for ways to pay for college.   Financial Aid can include private scholarships, personal loans, federal loans, and federal grants.  Scholarships and grants do not have to be paid back.  To qualify for federal aid, the FAFSA must be filled out.  All the information on FAFSA, including steps to apply, can be found on their official website: HERE.

Scholarships

Many different scholarships can be found online through simple web searches.  A great place to start is your Naviance account, which can be accessed through Clever.   The CCSD School Counseling Department will upload specific scholarships there.  Another great resource is GA Futures.  Other resource can be found through simple web searches or on specific college websites.  Any other scholarships that are sent to us, we will post below and send out through your student emails.

HOPE

The HOPE Scholarship GPA can only be viewed on GA Futures’ website.   Students must make their own accounts with an external email address.  Here are some helpful tips from the Georgia Student Finance Commission for Seniors:

  • Complete the online Georgia Student Finance Application (GSFAPP)
    1. The GSFAPP is how they can apply for HOPE Scholarship or Grant, Zell Miller Scholarship or Grant, and (if attending an eligible private college) the Tuition Equalization Grant.
    2. The GSFAPP can be completed in 3-5 minutes and is good for 10 years.
  •  Check their current HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship GPA Calculation in their GAfutures Dashboard through the My High School HOPE GPA tab.
  • Complete 2025-26 FAFSA – Check out the information in GAfutures to get started
