Compton Elementary Ensemble 

Mission/Purpose: The purpose of the Compton Elementary Ensemble is to provide opportunities for interested students to broaden their music expertise and experience performing music in many different locations. 

Faculty Sponsor: Courtnaye Wood assisted by Rachel Foltz

Description: The Compton Elementary Ensemble is a group of 4th and 5th grade students who meet once a week after school. Each meeting they learn how to be singers, team players and Compton leaders as well as play drums, xylophones and other instruments. These students represent Compton by performing music selections for the school and the community. 


Step Up Club

Purpose: The purpose of the Step Up club is to promote movement and fitness by opening the gym before school. Student will walk and socialize as we try to help Compton reach the goal of becoming #1 in the nation for miles logged walking during club time.

Faculty: Patrick Stevens

Description: The gym will be open from 7:15 to 7:40. Students are assigned a day during the week to join us.
Schedule:
Monday - 5th Grade
Tuesdat - 4th Grade
Wednesday - 2nd and 3rd Grade
Thursday - 1st grade and Kindergarten


Jr Beta Club

Mission Statement: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, leadership, and service among elementary students at Compton Elementary School.

Vision Statement: To develop a community of young leaders who strive for excellence in academics and citizenship, and who lead by serving others—making a positive impact in their school and beyond.

Description: The National Junior Beta Club at Compton Elementary School is a prestigious student organization that recognizes and nurtures students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance, strong character, and a commitment to service and leadership. Rooted in the motto “Let Us Lead by Serving Others,” the club provides opportunities for students to grow as responsible citizens and role models within their school and community.


Compton Cubs PAWS Companions 

Mission: To foster a welcoming and inclusive school environment by empowering student ambassadors to support and guide new students through their transition to Compton Elementary.

The purpose of the Compton Cub PAWS Companions program is to: Ensure that every new student at Compton Elementary feels valued, connected, and confident from their very first day. Through peer-led support, the program builds a culture of kindness, belonging, and leadership.

Description:  The Compton Cub PAWS Companions program—Peer Ambassadors Welcoming Students—is a student-led initiative designed to help new students feel at home in their new school environment.

PAWS Companions are responsible for: 

    Welcoming new students with a friendly introduction

    Giving tours of the school building and key areas

    Helping classmates sign a welcome card for the new student

    Serving as a point of contact for questions and support during the first week


Compton Cubs PAW Patrol 

Mission: The mission of the Compton Cub PAW Patrol Safety Program is to empower students to lead by example, promote a safe and respectful school environment, and support their peers through positive behavior and leadership.

The purpose of the PAW Patrol is to:

  • Encourage responsibility and teamwork among students
  • Assist with daily safety routines such as hallway transitions, bus loading, and morning arrival
  • Promote character education and school pride
  • Serve as role models for respectful and safe behavior

 Description:  The PAW Patrol Safety Program at Compton Elementary School is a student-led initiative designed to promote a safe, respectful, and supportive school environment. PAW stands for Protect – Assist – Watch, which reflects the core responsibilities of our student safety leaders.

Through this program, selected students serve as role models and campus helpers, taking on responsibilities such as:

  • Protecting fellow students by encouraging safe behavior and reporting concerns to adults.
  • Assisting younger students during arrival, dismissal, and transitions between classes.
  • Watching for opportunities to support school staff and ensure a positive atmosphere in hallways, restrooms, and common areas.

The PAW Patrol fosters leadership, responsibility, and teamwork, empowering students to take pride in their school and contribute to a culture of kindness and safety. Members receive training in basic safety procedures, conflict resolution, and peer support strategies.

By leading through example, PAW Patrol members help make Compton Elementary a place where every student feels safe, seen, and supported.

 

Compton Reading Academy - Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Team

Mission: Develop readers in a fun environment, as we investigate the Georgia Book Award Winners and prepare for the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Competition.

Sponsors: Kris Cable and Ruth Schubert

Description: We are looking for readers to join us for a dive deep into the 10 GA Book Award nominees. Top Readers will go on to compete in the exciting CCSD Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a state-wide reading initiative and quiz bowl-style competition that tests students’ knowledge of Georgia Book Award books. There will be reading games, prizes, and FUN!!!

This year’s team will meet after school on Wednesdays and our competition is going to be even bigger and better! See your teacher for Information packets and permission slips.


Compton Cheerleading Club

Mission: To inspire school spirit, promote teamwork, and build confidence through cheerleading.

Purpose: The Compton Elementary Cheerleading Club exists to bring students together in a fun, energetic environment where they can learn the fundamentals of cheerleading while supporting their school community.

Description: This 4th and 5th grade Club is dedicated to fostering unity, school pride, and positive character among students. Through cheers, chants, dance, step and simple routines, members learn the value of teamwork, respect, and encouragement. The club performs at school events, and assemblies, helping to create a welcoming and spirited atmosphere. 


Compton Coffee Cafe Club

This club allows for 5th grade and Multi-age students to practice real life skills. They take orders, prepare, and deliver coffee and tea to staff members in order to raise money for the school!
