    Message from the Principal

    Dear Dowell Families,

It has been so exciting to welcome your children to Dowell! We have loved seeing their smiling faces and watching them settle into their new routines.

During the first week of school, parents and guardians were welcome to walk their children to class to help them learn their way. Friday was the final day for families to walk students to their classrooms. Beginning this week, please have your child ride the bus or drop them off through morning carpool. Staff members will be stationed throughout the building to greet students and help them find their classrooms if needed.

    A Few Important Reminders

    • Please make sure your child’s dismissal method is always current in ParentVUE. Teachers are required to follow the dismissal information listed in ParentVUE and cannot make changes based on notes, emails, phone calls, or messages sent through another method.
    • If you need help accessing or updating ParentVUE, please visit the front office. Our clerks will be happy to assist you.
    • All visitors must show a photo ID before entering the building. Please ring the bell by pressing the button on the brick wall beside the front-right door. When a staff member responds, state the reason for your visit and hold your ID where it can be clearly seen.

Open House – Thursday, August 20
We are looking forward to welcoming a great crowd for Open House!

    • 5:00 p.m. – Title I Parent Input Meeting
    • 6:00 p.m. – Classroom Open House

During Open House, you will visit your child’s homeroom classroom, hear about classroom routines and expectations, and learn about the standards your child will be taught during the first quarter.

Thank you for helping us begin the school year safely and successfully. We are excited about the wonderful year ahead and the IMPACT our students will make at Dowell!

    Sincerely,
    Dr. Cain

    Specialist

Thank you to those that have given extra supplies to the Specialist classes! Thank you for thinking of us...We are SUPER appreciative! 🥳

    Just a few reminders:
    • Please do not allow your students to bring toys, candy, snacks, or gum to specials. 🍬
    • Please be on time for drop off and pick up. The schedule has changed this year, and we only have 5 minutes between classes. Being on time will help with the balance and flow of drop off/pick up!🌞

    Literacy Lab:
For the 2nd rotation of specials, please have your students bring their laptops...1st-5th. Mrs. Michaels and Mrs. Pszczola will be collaborating together for a Digital Citizenship and Future Ready Framework lesson. Thank you!🙌
(Mrs. Pszczola will get together with K teachers to plan a time with kindergarteners!)

    August 11th –August 17h  (Day 1- Day 6 for 5th grade)

    STEAM:
I am working with a new graphic designer to create this year's Art’s Integrated shirt. This shirt can be worn on Mondays with Jeans. I hope to have the shirts available for purchase by Labor Day. STAY TUNED 😊

Also, I am providing folders for each student this year. This will serve as their STEAM Journal, so there is no need to bring journals to STEAM. Thank you for all you do!
