What is PTA Reflections Arts Program?
Reflections is a National PTA’s cornerstone arts program founded in 1969 by the Colorado State PTA President and arts educator Mary Lou Anderson. In the 50+ years since the program’s founding, millions of students have been inspired to participate by reflecting on a specific, student-selected theme to create original artwork.
By hosting Reflections, Mabry PTSA is joining a celebration of the importance of arts education that spans nationwide and in American schools overseas.
How do students participate?
Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Middle School (6-8 grades) by submitting entries in one or more following categories:
- Accessible Arts (Students who identify as having a disability and may receive services under IDEA or ADA: Section 504 to enter in the Accessible Arts Division or grade division most closely aligned to their support needs)
- Dance choreography
- Film production
- Literature
- Music composition
- Photography
- Visual arts
