Cardinal Mask

The Osborne High School's Theatre department is under the direction of writer, actress, and director, ReTina D. Gray. The goal of Osborne High School's Theatre department is to create a diverse and rich learning environment that nurtures the talents, creativity, and the multiple intelligences of all learners. Students who wish to extend their talents outside the classroom, are invited to join the Cardinal Mask Drama Club.


The Cardinal Mask Drama Club was established in 2007. The club has participated and placed in several One Act Competitions and is known for its meaningful and thought provoking performances. These performances include Dream Girls, The Wiz, The Straight Skinny, The Katrina Project, Good Trouble, Time in/Time Out, Outta Control, Check Please, & Stop Time.


Drama Director, ReTina D. Gray has also written several original plays that touch on a variety of social issues that students face. Through the use of comedy, these plays incorporate a variety of social themes that educate and guide students through difficult situations. The Cardinal Mask Drama Club has performed a variety of these plays which include Choices & Consequences, Bag Lady, The Rejects, Is Anyone Listening?, El Loco Lobo, The Real Meaning of Christmas, Keep Calm & Adjust Your Tiara, The Wedding, Young Martin Luther King Makes A Decision, and Rebecca's Journal.


The Cardinal Mask Drama Club is culturally diverse organization that celebrates cultural diversity through organizing and creating performances for the Hispanic Heritage Program and Black History Program, as well as incorporating multicultural theatre from around the world. The Theatre department and The Cardinal Mask Drama also participate in the Fine Art's Showcase and the Voices of OHS Spoken Word, thus providing additional opportunities for students to showcase dancing, singing, writing, and directing talents.


Whether in the classroom or in the Cardinal Mask Drama Club, students can expect to gain self-esteem, communication skills, self-discipline, and empathy towards others, while having fun and reducing stress.
