Pine Mountain offers a wide variety of clubs and student organizations for all learners. Meeting dates, times, and locations are announced on the morning broadcast, so be sure to listen closely for updates. Below is a list of the clubs and organizations currently available to students.

School Clubs

Beta Club

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Pine Mountain Middle School Junior Beta Club is to promote academic excellence, leadership, character, and a commitment to serving others. Through meaningful service projects, mentorship opportunities, and student-led initiatives, we empower members to grow as scholars, leaders, and compassionate citizens within their school and community.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Green & Dr. Horne

Description of Planned Activities: The Pine Mountain Middle School Junior Beta Club is a student organization dedicated to academic achievement, leadership development, and community service. As part of the National Junior Beta Club, membership is invitation-based and offered to students who demonstrate strong academic performance, maintaining a minimum GPA of 3.25.

Members meet regularly to plan and engage in service projects that benefit both the school and the wider community. Participation in Junior Beta allows students to build friendships, strengthen leadership skills, and positively impact their environment while growing as responsible and engaged individuals.

Game Club

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Game Club is to provide students who share an interest in chess with a welcoming space to gather, play, learn, and grow. The club promotes strategic thinking, sportsmanship, and positive social interaction while offering a fun and engaging after school activity.

Faculty Sponsor: Mr. Hoover, Mr. Ivey, Ms. Snell

Description of Planned Activities: The Game Club offers students the opportunity to connect with peers who enjoy playing chess. Students meet approximately twice a month on Thursdays from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. to practice skills, participate in games, and build friendships in a supportive environment.

Those interested in joining should see a club sponsor for a permission form and the full schedule of meeting dates.

C.R.E.W

Mission/Purpose:  The mission of C.R.E.W. is to empower young men by fostering Commitment, Responsibility, Encouragement, and Worth. Through positive mentorship and meaningful relationships, the club helps boys develop essential life skills that prepare them for success in school and beyond.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Brooks

Description of Planned Activities: C.R.E.W. is a mentoring club designed for boys, focused on building character and confidence through engaging activities and hands on experiences. The program provides a supportive environment where students can learn valuable life skills, practice responsibility, build positive peer connections, and gain encouragement from mentors. C.R.E.W. helps students understand their personal worth while developing the commitment needed to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

International Culture and Cuisine Club

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the International Culture & Community Club (ICCC) is to celebrate global diversity by fostering understanding, connection, and appreciation for cultures from around the world. Through shared experiences in food, music, language, and traditions, ICCC encourages students to build community, broaden their perspectives, and develop lifelong respect for cultural differences.

Description of Planned Activities: The International Culture & Community Club (ICCC) meets on Tuesdays from 4:15–5:15 PM in Room 1614. Students come together to explore and share food, music, language, and ideas from a variety of cultures across the globe. Each year, the club hosts an International Night for the Pine Mountain community, showcasing the rich diversity of our students and families.

ICCC is a welcoming space to eat, talk, laugh, learn, and connect while celebrating the unique backgrounds that make our school community shine.

Journalism Club

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Pine Mountain Middle School Journalism Club is to inspire and empower students to develop strong writing, reporting, and multimedia storytelling skills. Through hands on experience in producing a school publication, the club encourages creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and a passion for sharing stories that matter to the Mustang community.

Description of Planned Activities: Extra, Extra! Read All About It! is Pine Mountain Middle School’s Journalism Club, meeting Tuesday mornings from 8:15–8:45 AM. Students work together to create one publication each semester, gaining real world experience in writing, reporting, editing, and multimedia production.

The club is an ideal space for students who love the written word, enjoy uncovering meaningful stories, and want to build their journalism portfolio. Members should demonstrate enthusiasm for storytelling and a commitment to covering topics that reflect the interests and experiences of the Mustang community.

Media Mustangs

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Media Center Student Assistant Program is to develop responsibility, leadership, and service in students who have a passion for supporting their school community. Through hands on experience in the Media Center, students learn organizational skills, teamwork, and the value of contributing to a shared learning environment.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Harris, Ms. Lee

Description of Planned Activities: The Media Center Student Assistant Program offers students an opportunity to take an active role in the daily operations of the school’s Media Center. Responsibilities include shelving books, maintaining Media Center computers, assisting with organization, and helping ensure a welcoming space for all students.

Applications are accepted twice a year—August and January. To participate, students must maintain a B average and receive all satisfactory conduct grades. Training is provided for all new members.

Student assistants are assigned one morning per week, working from 8:50 to 9:10 AM to support Media Center tasks and gain valuable experience in school service and leadership.

Menders & Makers

Mission/Purpose:  The mission of Menders and Makers is to inspire creativity, sustainability, and craftsmanship by teaching students the art of visible mending and hand sewn design. Through hands-on projects and guided skill building, the club encourages creative expression, resourcefulness, and confidence in personal artistry.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Nicula

Description of Planned Activities: Menders and Makers meets on the first Wednesday of each month and offers students a welcoming space to explore textile arts. Members learn the traditional Japanese technique of Sashiko, along with other visible mending and hand crafting skills. Students practice customizing clothing, repairing fabric with artistic flair, and creating unique DIY gifts and crafts.

A $15 donation is requested to cover materials, or students may bring their own sewing and embroidery kits. The club provides a relaxed, creative environment where students can make, mend, and discover the joy of handcrafted design

News Team

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Morning Broadcast Team is to inform, engage, and connect the Pine Mountain Middle School community through daily student produced broadcasts. The program promotes leadership, communication, teamwork, and technical media skills while giving students the opportunity to share important announcements and create a positive start to each school day.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Harris

Description of Planned Activities: The Morning Broadcast Team presents a live daily broadcast each morning at 9:15 a.m. Students must apply for a position and be able to arrive at school by 8:30 a.m. during their training period. The team is responsible for preparing and delivering school news, announcements, and features that keep the Mustang community informed and engaged.

Applications are due to Ms. Harris by the third Friday in August. Selected students gain experience in public speaking, video production, scriptwriting, technology operation, and teamwork—valuable skills that support confidence and communication both in and out of the classroom.

Photography Club

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Photography Club is to inspire creativity, curiosity, and artistic expression by helping students explore the world through the lens of a camera. The club encourages members to develop their technical skills, discover new perspectives, and tell meaningful stories through photography.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Kiefer, Ms. Eybelman

Description of Planned Activities: The Photography Club is the perfect place for students who enjoy taking pictures, capturing moments, or experimenting with creative visuals—whether they’re beginners or already skilled photographers. Members learn practical tips and techniques, participate in fun photo challenges, and have opportunities to showcase their work in school displays and contests.

This club offers a supportive, engaging environment where students can grow their confidence, build artistic skills, and express themselves—one click at a time.

Show Choir

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Show Choir is to inspire a love of music, performance, and creativity by providing students with opportunities to sing, express themselves, and build confidence. The club promotes teamwork, musical growth, and a supportive environment where all students can shine on stage.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Holtzen

Description of Planned Activities: Show Choir is open to all students who enjoy singing and performing. Members rehearse and learn musical pieces together each Wednesday after school from 4:15–5:15 p.m. The club offers a fun and energetic space for students to develop vocal skills, explore choreography, and collaborate with fellow performers.

Whether students are experienced singers or trying something new, Show Choir welcomes anyone with enthusiasm and a passion for performing.

Sources of Strength

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Peer Leadership Program is to empower students and caring adult advocates to create a safer, stronger, and more connected school community. Through meaningful relationships built on connection, hope, help, and strength, the program equips students to support one another, promote well being, and foster a culture where every individual feels valued and heard.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Brooks

Description of Planned Activities: The Peer Leadership Program trains students to recognize warning signs related to suicide, violence, bullying, and substance abuse. Peer leaders learn how to respond appropriately, seek adult assistance, and provide support when concerns are reported to them. By partnering students with trusted adult advocates, the program builds a network of caring individuals committed to prevention, early intervention, and positive change within the school community.

This initiative helps reduce harmful behaviors, strengthens protective skills, and encourages students to look out for one another—making the school a safer and more compassionate place for all.

Student Council - Expect Respect

Mission/Purpose: The mission of the Student Council is to empower students to become responsible leaders who model respect, integrity, and service. Through a project based approach to school improvement, Student Council members work together to create a positive school culture where every student feels valued, heard, and supported.

Faculty Sponsor: Ms. Cruz-Gonzalez, Ms. Grella

Description of Planned Activities: Student Council is open to students in all grade levels and operates as a project based leadership and school improvement organization. Members collaborate to plan initiatives, promote school spirit, encourage respect among peers, and help make Pine Mountain Middle School a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The club provides students with opportunities to develop leadership skills, represent their classmates, and drive meaningful change within the school community.



Student Organizations

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Mission/Purpose: The mission of FCA is to bring students together to pursue the Christian faith, build meaningful friendships, and support one another through fellowship. FCA provides a welcoming, student led environment where all students can explore faith, grow spiritually, and encourage each other to live with purpose and integrity.

Faculty Monitor: Mr. Hoover

Description of Planned Activities: FCA is a student led Christian gathering open to all students. Each week, members come together for a time of friendship, fun, and faith-building activities. Meetings typically begin with a group game, followed by musical worship, and conclude with an encouraging message for the week. Students also hear from committed community leaders who share insights on the Christian faith and important elements of Christian living.

FCA offers a positive and supportive space for students to connect with fellow believers, deepen their faith, and enjoy meaningful fellowship.
