Advanced Content (AC)
**Unless a request is received or students did not meet the criteria, all 4th grade Advanced Content students will remain in Advanced Content classes in 5th grade.
What is the Advanced Content Model?
Students are grouped together on the basis of multiple criteria. In most cases, classes contain a mixture of AC students and non-AC students.
How will the instruction for Advanced Content differ?
Instruction is based on the CCSD standards taught to all students.
AC students experience extension of these standards through performance tasks and accelerated pacing.
Most AC classes are taught by a gifted-certified teacher in order to utilize instructional strategies for advanced learners

How does Advance Content impact Target?
The AC Model should not impact the Target resource model. Not all gifted students may qualify for AC courses at the elementary level. Gifted students who meet criteria will be expected to attend a full day of Target classes.
Will my child automatically qualify for Advanced Content in middle school?
There is no automatic placement into AC classes in middle school based on AC classes in elementary school. Middle school Advanced Content criteria and placement is made by the middle school. If you have questions regarding the placement criteria for local feeder schools, please contact the school directly.
