CELL PHONE POLICY

JCDA-R Student Code of Conduct:
F. PERSONAL COMMUNICATIONS/ELECTRONIC DEVICES: 1. Elementary and middle school: Students shall not use, display, or turn on smart watches, cellular phones, video phones, or electronic devices during instructional time, class change time, breakfast or lunch. The principal shall determine specified times on campus when, if any, electronic devices may be used for instructional purposes.
G. DISRESPECTFUL CONDUCT: 4. Insubordination: All students shall comply with reasonable directions or commands of all authorized district personnel or designees.
- Students are not allowed to use their cellphones during the school day. If students need to call parents ,they must go the main office and use the school phone. If parents need to reach students with messages or emergencies, parents must call the school main office. All students have laptops so there is not need to use cellphones for during classroom instruction.
- Student cellphones must be placed in their bookbags. Cellphones can not be in back pockets, pockets, in hand or any where they are visible.
- Cellphones ringers , alerts, and alarms should be turned off.
- Cellphones which are visible or students who are caught using their cellphones will bring their cellphone to the front office, sign-in their cellphone and place it in a protective drawer.
- 1st Incident - Student may receive phone back at the end of the day, UNLESS the phone is taken to the front office at 3:30 or later. If the phone is turned in at this time, parents will have to come pick up the phone.
- 2nd Incident - Parent/Guardian must pick up the phone during normal office hours
- 3rd Incident - Parent/Guardian must pick up the phone and the student receives a referral.
5. Refusal to surrender a cellphone or repeated violation of the above cell phone policy will result in disciplinary consequences which can range from ISS to OSS.
When students bring cellphones, air pods, earbuds, or any personal electronics to school, the student and parent assume all risk for damaged, lost, or stolen items.
