Social Studies: Chad Christman
Welcome to Person Middle School! I will be your Captain on this mission through 7th grade Social Studies. This year we will be traveling through the exotic regions of Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Our Mission will be to set the standard for excellence in social studies education through total commitment to quality in instruction and preparation with superior learning results.
This will be accomplished by using differentiation, viewing CNN student news to stay abreast of current world events and tying them to our core content, making THEIR educational experience relevant to the students' communities and world.
Be prepared to have the world brought to your classroom.

Science: Tangela Sims
Hello everyone! I’m Mrs. Sims and the current Science Coordinator, but my main passion is teaching as the 7th grade Science teacher. In Life Science, we enjoy doing interactive lab activities to promote STEM challenges. This year in my science class we will be building cellular models, exploring owl pellets, dissecting frogs, visiting Zoo Atlanta, and researching genetic disorders. Our goal in Life Science is for students to gather information on medical professionals to spark their interest in the STEAM world.
Special Education: Stephanie Jackson
My name is Stephanie Jackson. This is my 8th year in Cobb County Schools and my 3rd year at Pearson. Outside of school, I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends. I have road-tripped across the U.S and have been to several countries.
During my time at Pearson, I have assisted with the design of our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), volunteered with the design and promotion of our school festivals, tutored students before and after school, and supported our literacy initiatives as the previous Reading Department Chair (‘21-‘22 & ‘22-‘23).
New this year - I am co-sponsoring our Girls on the Run club alongside Ms. Desenberg and Mrs. Davies.
I am excited to serve as the Special Education department chair for the ‘23-‘24 school year. I am proud to serve our students as they continue to strive for excellence and help them become the best versions of themselves. I look forward to supporting our Special Education department team as they provide our striving students with the tools they need to succeed!

ESOL Lead: Patricia Harper
Hello, hola, and bonjour Pearson families!
My name is Patricia Harper, and I am serving as the English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) lead at Pearson this year. I am continuing my third year at Pearson and my 9th year teaching. I teach 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ESOL math and collaborate with our team of wonderful ESOL teachers to optimize learning for our students. We specialize in supporting students as they S.O.A.R. while developing their English language proficiency. I will help Pearson Aim High and Fly Higher by identifying and providing targeted resources and training that support teaching both content and language. Students will grow their ability to read, write, speak, and listen in English as they engage in rigorous academic environments. Each year, students are assessed in these categories using the ACCESS test. We encourage all students to practice literacy skills inside and outside of school, in English and in their home language. Remember to use your academic vocabulary!
I wish everyone a wonderful school year!
