Summer Reading
Relax, play, and have fun this summer. Keep reading, too! By reading 20+ minutes a day, students avoid the "summer academic slide" and maintain or advance academic gains. To support summer reading and learning, The Cobb County School District's Library Media Education Department, in conjunction with the Cobb County Public Library and Smyrna Public Library challenge all students to read 20 minutes every day and set a goal to read at least 15 hours this summer! Visit www.cobbsummerreading.com for all of the details.
Beanstack is our summer reading platform again this summer! It is available online and as an app. The Summer Reading Challenge will begin on June 1, 2025 and end on July 31, 2025.
Students can access their Beanstack school account here, or through Cobb Digital Library, or from the mobile Beanstack Tracker app.
Teasley Reading Bowl
The Teasley Reading Bowl Team is a competitive reading team of 4th and 5th graders. Members read from a specific list of books and answer comprehension-style questions for competition. Students must be on or above their grade level in reading to be considered for the team. Students will be expected to write questions for the books. These questions will be used during practice to prepare for competition.
The Reading Bowl titles will be available for checkout from the Teasley Library in August when we return to school. If you would like to start reading the titles sooner, you may borrow the books from the Public Library. Click here to see the 2025-2026 list of bowl books.
We will start as a reading club in September. The club will begin with up to twenty-five students, but only ten may compete in the county competition. Students will meet with Ms. Crosby once a week after school to review the books and answer comprehension-style questions. Students will be selected for the competitive team by November 1st. The selection process follows a point system. For each question answered correctly during practice, the student will receive a point. The ten students with the cumulative highest points scored during practices will be chosen for the competitive team as long as they have also written questions for at least THREE books. The students on the competitive team will continue to practice Mondays after school through November, December, and January until the competition.
Students will be provided with templates to use for writing questions. Students must write questions for AT LEAST THREE books by November 1, 2025 to be considered for the competitive team. *Hint: We will use these questions during practice and students who WRITE the questions usually ANSWER them correctly! Also, students who write questions typically remember MORE DETAILS about the books.
Please know that this is a competitive team and not all who join the club will make the final team of ten students. Also, we practice on Mondays after school beginning in September. Three or more missed practices will eliminate them from being eligible for the competitive team. I will advertise again in August and send home permission forms once we are back for the school year. Enjoy your summer break!

Welcome to the Teasley Library!
Students will have opportunities to visit the library with their classes and individually. All students will be allowed to check out library materials. Please help your students keep up with their library books by storing them in their backpack at home. Remember to read to your child every day! Even if they are reading well by themselves, it is important to continue to read aloud to them. Consider checking out books from the public library for this purpose.
Public Library Connection – PASS Program
Your student number is your public library card number! Check out books and ebooks from the Cobb County Public Library. Simply stop by any CCPL branch and check out up to 5 print books using your student number and 4-digit birthday (2-digit month and 2-digit day). Students may also check out digital materials, including ebooks.
Beanstack is an engaging K-12 reading platform that allows us to customize district-wide and school-based reading challenges that motivate students to read by choice and build each school’s culture of reading. Teasley hosts monthly reading challenges to encourage students to read at least 20 minutes each day. Log your minutes to earn virtual badges and real buttons to add to your backpack. Be sure to log minutes that students read AND minutes that adults read to students...it all counts and it all adds up!
Sora is our digital book platform. Users can read books online and download them to personal devices. This is a terrific way to always have a book to read with your student or listen to an audio book! Have a road trip coming up? Download a book to listen to in the car! Check out sorapp.com or download the Sora app to easily checkout ebooks and e-audiobooks from your school and the Cobb County Public Library, too! Log into Sora using your email address and computer password.
Cobb Digital Library – Your student’s source for research!
The Cobb Digital Library is stocked full of learning resources and e-books! Each school has a collection of carefully curated resources that are engaging and age-appropriate for students.
