As in past years, Cobb students have continued to succeed at a higher rate than their Georgia peers and their success is increasing.

The Class of 2024 posted a higher graduation rate than the prior year. This year, the Cobb County School District graduation rate rose to 87.9% compared to Georgia’s average of 85.4%.

Cobb students keep graduating at higher rates each year, driving the District’s graduation rate up by 6.5 percentage points since 2015.

“Improving graduation rates for 8,500 seniors a year isn’t easy! More Cobb students graduating every year is a compliment to the hard work of every teacher, from kindergarten to high school,” said Board Chair Randy Scamihorn.

Drilling down to the school level, 13 Cobb schools returned graduation rates above 88% and ten secured graduation rates above 90%. The following schools posted the highest graduation rates: Lassiter (98.0%), Harrison (97.6%), Walton (97.6%), and Pope (97.3%). With Cobb Horizon High School leading the way with a 7.8 percentage point leap, five schools increased by more than two percentage points compared to 2023: The other four schools are Sprayberry High School (+3.3), Osborne High School (+3.1), McEachern High School (+2.9), and Campbell High School (+2.1). Osborne’s steady rise marks an astounding 16 percentage point increase since 2015. The above graduation rate data reflects the federally mandated method for calculating the 4-year graduation rate, which includes all students expected to graduate in 2024, even if the student is only enrolled for a single day.

For students enrolled in Cobb Schools for at least 2 years, the District’s graduation rate jumps by 5.9 percentage points to 93.8% and steadily increases the longer a student is enrolled.

For students enrolled all four years of high school, Cobb’s “real” graduation rate skyrockets to 99.1%

The “real” graduation rate for every Cobb high school is above 97%, with 13 schools posting graduation rates above 99%, and all students graduating from two schools.

The graduation rate is not the only indicator of success for Cobb students, who also topped the Atlanta metro, state, and nation on the SAT. Once again, the Georgia Milestones showed Cobb students leading state and Atlanta metro peers on the state assessment.
