July 10, 2025—Thousands of students from across the nation gathered in beautiful Southern California recently for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Conference on June 28–July 3. Among them were two exceptional young leaders from Hightower Trail Middle School: Anna Wang and Vivaan Bendishankara.

FBLA, the world's largest career student business organization, prepares students for careers in business through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs. Its mission is to inspire and prepare students to become community-minded business leaders in a global society through relevant career preparation and leadership experiences. Members also uphold a pledge that emphasizes honesty, service, and responsibility.

The National Leadership Conference offers students many opportunities to connect, learn, and grow alongside future business leaders. The schedule includes keynotes, workshops, and many other presentations, where students are equipped with cutting-edge skills, professional development, and career insights. This year's National Conference was held at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Anna and Vivaan had spent months preparing under the guidance of their dedicated advisor, Ms. LaRona J. Snowden. Their focus was mastering the FBLA Mission and Pledge and the intricate rules of Parliamentary Procedures, a system of order that ensures fair and efficient meetings.

With his sharp memory and eloquent speech, Vivaan took the lead in the Mission and Pledge event. He spoke with passion about the values of leadership, service, and education, impressing the judges with his clarity and conviction.

When the awards ceremony arrived, the crowd erupted in applause as Anna and Vivaan were called to the stage—both had placed among the top competitors in their respective categories. Ms. Snowden beamed with pride, knowing that her students had not only learned the rules of leadership but had lived them.

Anna and Vivaan’s journey was more than a competition—it was a testament to the power of preparation, mentorship, and belief in oneself. And for them, it is just the beginning.
