More than 100 Cobb seniors completed their high school coursework over the summer to qualify for graduation. Many of those students received their diplomas on July 27 at the Summer Commencement ceremony at Harrison High School. They were joined by a festive group of parents, friends, family, and District leaders.

"This graduation ceremony is always very special to all that attend as it celebrates many students' perseverance and commitment to completing their high school diploma," said Assistant Superintendent Christian Suttle. "I am very thankful to shake each of their hands as they walk proudly across the stage."

Nearly every high school in the District—16 out of 17 total—had a graduate representing their school. The nearness of the commencement ceremony to the first day of school is a reminder that as one group closes out a chapter of their lives, others are beginning or continuing their own stories. Every student is on their own path, and Cobb Schools is right there to encourage and support each one.

"The summer graduation is a momentous occasion for our students and their families," said Cobb's Chief of Staff Sherri Hill. "It is an honor, a privilege, and a pleasure to share in the excitement of the students and their families for this great accomplishment!"

These 107 graduates join the more than 8000 students who received their diplomas in May, as well as the 70 Adult Education graduates who received theirs in June. This puts the total number of 2023 graduates at well over 8400!

Congratulations Summer Graduates! We look forward to what comes next for each of you, knowing that your dedication and perseverance will pay dividends as you continue your journey...
