Fake Threat

Allatoona Family,

Sadly, this morning, our school issued a Code Red Alarm after we received another reported threat to our office.

Today's report is very similar to yesterday's, and the Cobb County School District Police Department immediately began investigating. While yesterday's incident was found to be a fake threat, we are fully investigating.

In the months since the terrible incident in Barrow County, Cobb schools have been inundated with fake threats, false reports of threats, and incidents of "swatting."

As a reminder to all of our students, Cobb Schools will prosecute those involved to the full extent of the law when this kind of disruptive behavior occurs.

You will receive another update once we know more from the administrative and police investigation.

Today's Code Red

Dear Allatoona Families,

Today, a Code Red was initiated in response to a reported threat. After investigating, it was determined the reported threat was untrue and posed no danger to our school. Safety is our number one priority, and we will always act out of an abundance of caution in these situations.

While this was an unsettling circumstance, I am incredibly proud of how our staff and students handled it. Our Allatoona staff remained calm under pressure, and without hesitation, took swift and appropriate action to ensure the safety of students. Students, too, were outstanding in how they remained composed and followed instructions, which is a testament to the strength of our community and the effectiveness of our safety protocols. The cooperation of everyone involved - school personnel, first responders, and families - was crucial in navigating this challenge with focus and care.

While we plan and prepare for many situations, we recognize we cannot anticipate every scenario. In these moments, there are also challenges in communicating quickly and fully with families and ask for your patience and understanding as we work through these stressful situations. We will continue to evaluate our practices and keep you informed. Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring a safe environment for all.

Important Allatoona HS Update

Dear Allatoona Family,

Earlier today, we learned of a reported threat to our school and out of an abundance of caution, we immediately initiated a Code Red while the Cobb County School District Police Department investigated. That investigation has concluded, and our school has resumed normal operations.

The Police Department has discovered that a false threat was reported by a student who will face disciplinary consequences for their actions.

As always, our highest priority is the safety and security of our school, our students, and our staff. We will continue to aggressively respond to any reported threats or concerns. I continue to encourage our families to use the safety supports in our school. If you see something, please say something. The easiest way is to use the District's Tipline to call, text, or email if you have any safety concerns.

Thank you,

Principal Bultman

Allatoona Staff

Dear Allatoona Families, Parents, and Community Members,

Every stakeholder of a school is significant in its ultimate success – students, staff, parents, families, community partners. As we navigate the school year together, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the remarkable staff at Allatoona High School. Each day, the Allatoona staff demonstrate an unwavering commitment to students and the community, and it is important to recognize the incredible impact they have on our children’s lives.

At Allatoona, our teachers go above and beyond to provide strong, rigorous instruction that challenges and inspires students. Their dedication is evident in the countless hours they spend preparing engaging lessons, grading assignments, and finding innovative ways to reach each student’s unique needs. It is also important to remember while they give so much of themselves to our students inside and outside of the classroom, they also balance their own families and lives, juggling personal commitments with the demanding responsibilities of their profession.

A teacher’s role extends far beyond academics. Our staff members are not just teachers; they are also mentors and advocates for our students’ well-being. They listen to our children, and their compassion and support shines through, making a lasting difference in our students' lives. Their multifaceted roles ensure each student feels valued and understood.

Moreover, our staff serve as coaches and club sponsors bringing an incredible sense of community and spirit to Allatoona. The Allatoona staff instills teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in our students, teaching them valuable life skills that will serve them well beyond their high school years. From organizing school events to leading athletic teams, they create an environment where students can grow, thrive, and build lifelong friendships.

While no one is perfect, the passion and dedication of our staff are nothing short of amazing. They face challenges with resilience and creativity, always striving to provide the best for our students. Our staff’s willingness to go the extra mile is a testament to their commitment to our community. They are truly Anchored in Excellence.

As we continue this journey together, let us celebrate the wonderful individuals who make Allatoona High School a place where students feel valued, supported, and inspired. Thank you to each staff member for your hard work and dedication. You are truly making a difference in the lives of our children, and for that, I am forever grateful.

Warm regards,

Dr. Bultman, Principal

Support Turner's Heroes

Turner’s Heroes:

For those of you that are new to Allatoona, each year during football season, we spend a week raising money to fund discovery grants to fight pediatric cancer in honor of former Allatoona student Turner Cockrell, who passed away from cancer in 2018. You can find out more about Turner’s Heroes at Turner's Heroes | In Honor of Turner Cockrell | Nashville (turnersheroes.org).  Our hope is that the Allatoona and Acworth communities can come together to raise $20,000 for this great cause.

One of the main ways that we raise funds is through the sales of t-shirts and capes. Students who purchase these are encouraged to wear them to the football game the night of October 11th as we honor Turner’s life locally and educate the Allatoona, and this year Cartersville, communities on this great cause.

Due to supply issues, we are preselling everything via MyPaymentsPlus to guarantee that we have enough for all that purchase. We want to ensure everyone who purchases and donates gets their shirts and capes.

Both are on sale now. This year’s t-shirt is white, and they are selling for $20 each. Students who purchase shirts can earn 1 hour of community service for up to 5 hours. Capes come in a variety of colors and are $10. Students who purchase earn  ½ of an hour of community service for each $10 spent, also up to 5 hours. The T-shirts are only on sale through 9/20. A QR code is included if you would like to make a donation. This fundraiser is completely optional for our students and community, we want to ensure that the community is aware of this great cause. Thank you for your consideration in helping us meet our goal.

A Sad Loss in our School Community

Dear Allatoona Family,

It is with great sadness I share with you the passing of one of our students, Denise Gaskin. Denise, a former Pickett’s Mill Elementary and Durham Middle School student, was a freshman here at Allatoona and involved in ROTC. This is a great loss to our school community. As we navigate through this, please remember to offer support to one another and to our students. Our counselors will be providing resources and support to help everyone cope with this loss, and the Counseling Office is available throughout the day to staff and students.

Please keep this family and our community in your thoughts in the upcoming weeks.

When learning of the loss, your child may experience grief; you may see the following:

  • Tearfulness
  • Physical complaints – stomachache, headaches, etc.
  • Bad dreams
  • Irritability
  • Clinginess
  • Inability to concentrate
  • More pronounced fears; of dying, of the dark, of you dying, of walking home alone, etc.

Here are some ideas to help your child with grieving:

  • Read a book on grief together
  • Let your child talk about the death or draw pictures of what he or she felt happened
  • Let them express their feelings
  • Offer them loving support
  • Allow them to be sad and to cry
  • Let your child ask questions and answer them as simply as you can. It’s okay to say; “I don’t know how to answer that. Perhaps we can find someone who can help us.”
  • Offer support and structure in completing homework.

If there are any questions or concerns about your child’s behavior, please contact the Allatoona counseling office: 770-975-6503.

Also, feel free to utilize the following resource if necessary.

Thank you for your support of the family. Our hearts are with them now and in the future.

Allatoona - Traffic & Parking

Allatoona Families,

As we begin another exciting school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize that the safety of our students, staff, and families is always our number one priority.

School traffic is difficult to navigate, regardless of the school. While we have made changes to remedy some of those difficulties here at Allatoona, we ask that everyone drives safely while on school property. This includes adhering to speed limits, being mindful of pedestrian walkways, and avoiding any reckless driving behaviors. Please remember that our parking areas and drop-off zones can be busy, and your cooperation is essential in keeping everyone safe.

To ensure a safe environment, please be aware that traffic violations such as speeding or reckless driving can and will result in tickets being issued. We appreciate your understanding and commitment to making our school a safe place for all.

Thank you for your support and cooperation!

Honored to begin this Journey!

It is with great pleasure I introduce myself as the new principal of Allatoona High School. I am honored for the opportunity to lead a school with such outstanding academic, fine arts, and athletic accomplishments!

This school year marks 20 years in education for me. Before becoming Adairsville High School's principal, I was an Assistant Principal for four years at Kennesaw Mountain, followed by three years at North Cobb. I dedicated 11 years to teaching science, with 10 of those years at Kennesaw Mountain, before transitioning to building leadership.

As an educator, I am committed to academic excellence, open and transparent communication, and a steadfast focus on learning, collaboration, and achieving tangible results. I firmly believe in shared leadership, emphasizing collective responsibility, decision-making, and authentic engagement with one another.

On a personal note, I am a Cobb County native, resident, and graduate. I am also a parent to two children, Berkley and Major. As a member of this community, I am deeply invested in the success and growth of our school and stand committed to excellence in all areas.

Alongside our dedicated staff, talented students, and the supportive parent and school community, I am excited to work hard to lead and support Allatoona as we continue to move forward "Anchored in Excellence" with all we do.
