Athletes of the Week, April 2, 2026

April 2, 2026 — Outdoor sports are back! This week's Athletes of the Week (AOW) are outstanding student-athletes who excel in the classroom and on the course and court.

Cobb Athletics awards the AOW to celebrate student-athletes who achieve and inspire in their sports, academics, and communities. The award is made possible through continuing support from BSN Sports. This week's honors go to Wesleigh Myers from Allatoona High School and Rajat Shirur from Campbell High School. They are Built for Beyond

Wesleigh Myers, Golf, Allatoona

A longtime golfer, Wesleigh made history at Allatoona by helping the girls' golf team win first place for the first time! She shot a 77, which also won the girls' low score award at the tournament. She has led the Buc girls' golf team all season and will be a huge asset for the team heading into area play in May. Although Wesleigh is very serious about her golf, she also has a great sense of humor and is a lot of fun to be around. She also participates in several clubs and is an active member of Athletic Leadership, Key Club, and other academic clubs. Wesleigh is a junior.

"She is the leader of the team, not only in scoring, but in work ethic," said her coach, Joe Lanier. "She works hard in practice and on her own to improve and grow in the sport. She is very easy to coach, and the team follows her lead."

He also highlighted the qualities that set her apart beyond performance.

"She is a delight to coach and be around. I coach her the same way I coach the boys. You do not have to sugarcoat things with her; she is one of the most coachable girls I have had," concluded Coach Lanier about his Athlete of the Week.

Rajat Shirur, Tennis, Campbell

Rajat ShirurThe Spartan boy’s tennis team is the No.1 seed in Region 3-6A for the playoffs with a recent win over Harrison. Part of the team's incredible success on the court is due to senior Rajat's undefeated play. Rajat has never lost a high school match and is 19-0 so far this year! He is also a high-level student in the classroom in Campbell's International Baccalaureate Program. He has played tennis for three years at Campbell and is the fourth-ranked high school tennis player in the country and first in Georgia! He is committed to Northwestern University in the Fall.

"No one in the state is more valuable to their team than Rajat," said his proud coach, Zachary Hall. "He is the hardest-working player and best leader I’ve ever coached. He’s a great teammate, leader, competitor, student, and athlete. I cannot speak highly enough about him."

He went on to describe the team’s accomplishments during Rajat’s time on the team.

"He has helped Campbell have the best seasons in school history. We have won a region, reached the Final 4 once, the Elite 8 twice, and the Sweet 16 three times. As a leader, he sets the tone at practice and matches, and raises everyone’s level of intensity and performance. I am a better coach because of Rajat and his impact on the Campbell tennis program," said Coach Hall with a smile.
