Campbell Graduate Receives Congressional Award Gold Medal

June 24, 2026 — Since 1979 the Congressional Award has been an opportunity to recognize 14 to 24-year-olds who are making a difference across the country.

This year, 877 students were recognized at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. and Cobb Schools was proudly represented by Cailin Bohm.

Cailin, a 2026 graduate from Campbell High School, is one of only 19 Gold Medal winners from Georgia and the only one from Cobb County.

"Receiving the Congressional Award Gold Medal is meaningful to me because it reflects years of commitment across many different areas of my life while still maintaining high standards in each of them. Through the program’s goals in service, personal development, physical fitness, and exploration, I was able to develop a wide range of skills and grew in many ways," said Cailin.

During her visit to the nation's capital, Cailin met with local lawmakers from Georgia and other young leaders from across the country.

To be considered for this award, Cailin first logged hundreds of hours of community service to show that she was able to make a real impact through the work she did over the course of two years.

Along with her Gold Medal, Cailin also received a Congressional Award STEM Star designation, which recognizes Medalists who completed Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Math-related activities as part of their Congressional Award journey.

“I was not surprised when we learned that Cailin received the Congressional Gold Medal Award. She has to be one of the most positive, driven, and inspiring students I have had the privilege of knowing. The work she put in to be honored by this award speaks volumes about her as an individual. At Campbell, we strive to educate the whole student to be a globally minded, responsible citizen, and this is what Cailin embodies. I am so happy for her and proud of her. Remember her name; she will positively change our world," said Campell Principal Paul Gillihan.

Beyond the individual experiences, the award also teaches valuable organizational and time-management skills. Tracking hundreds of hours, setting goals, maintaining records, and documenting progress required significant planning and attention to detail.

"I know these skills will continue to benefit me in college, future careers, and any setting where organization and accountability are essential," Cailin said with a smile. "I now know what it takes to set and achieve lofty goals."

After graduating from Campbell High School, Cailin will attend Vanderbilt University in the Fall.
