March 10, 2026 — Finding the right learning environment can make all the difference for students. In Cobb Schools, families have several options to choose from, including online and in-person programs like Cobb Horizon High School, Cobb Virtual Academy, and Cobb Online Learning Academy. Students learning virtually still have opportunities to connect with their peers through in-person events and activities.

Cobb Online Learning Academy's First Friday events bring online students together in person to learn about a different topic each time.

In March, students and families learned about financial literacy and practiced skills that can help students land a job.

"This is so beneficial and wonderful that we get these resources and experiences", said 11th grader Maja.

Representatives from LGE Community Credit Union spoke with families about budgeting, detecting financial scams, and planning for financial success.

Students had the chance to attend several sessions where they learned how to tie a tie, create a resume, select professional clothes for an interview, and analyze money to determine whether it is real or fake.

Osborne High School was also in attendance, where students helped prepare people's taxes under teachers' guidance.

"Even just thinking about the word taxes is intimidating, so having help like this is so beneficial," said Maja.

More than 300 people, ranging from Cobb educators to community members, had a student complete their taxes through the school-based program this year.

"To have a community really helps us and having that social aspect, preparing us for the real world, while still having the option for this virtual learning," said Maja.
