Evening of Inspiration Celebrates Creativity and Talent Across Cobb Schools

March 16, 2026 — Each year, Cobb Schools celebrates the remarkable talents of students with special needs during the district’s Evening of Inspiration, a heartfelt event that highlights creativity, perseverance, and the unique strengths of students across the community.
“Tonight, we honor our students’ creativity and celebrate the remarkable strengths and talents of students with special needs from across our district,” said Assistant Director of Special Education Compliance, Dawn Harrell, as she welcomed families, educators, and community members.

The Evening of Inspiration showcases exceptional students from Kindergarten through age 21, representing schools throughout Cobb. Each student takes the stage to share their passions and accomplishments, offering the audience an unforgettable look at the many ways students express themselves through performance and creativity. Hosted annually by the district’s Special Education Parent Mentors, the event brings together families and educators who support students receiving special education services.
This year’s celebration also marks a meaningful shift in timing. The event, traditionally held in May, was moved to March to align with Exceptional Children’s Week, giving the community another opportunity to recognize the achievements of students with diverse abilities.
The evening started even before the curtain rose, with guests entering the venue who were welcomed by a display of student photography in the lobby. The collection features work from Tritt Elementary School's ShutterSpark photographers, a group of talented young photographers and past winners of the district’s Cobb Tank competition. Their photographs offer a creative glimpse into how students observe and capture the world around them.

This year’s program featured several student performances, including a singer from Varner Elementary School, a pianist from Walton High School, and a routine from Harrison High School's Hoya Squad.
For families, the event is more than a performance. It is a moment of pride. Students who may spend months preparing for their act step onto the stage with confidence, supported by teachers, staff, and loved ones who have helped them along the way.
The true magic of the evening comes from the students themselves. As they sing, dance, perform, and share their talents, they remind the entire Cobb community that every student has something meaningful to contribute.
Events like the Evening of Inspiration highlight the heart of Cobb Schools—a community that celebrates students for who they are, supports them in reaching their potential, and applauds their achievements every step of the way.
