For the 10th year in a row, Cobb Schools is preparing to welcome families and students to its Community Connections Resource Fair on February 5 at 6:30 p.m., to be held at the Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy.
The event is designed specifically to connect students with disabilities to extracurricular activities—opportunities they didn't know existed.
This annual student-focused event has grown over the past decade, starting with just over 20 featured organizations. This year, families will explore more than 50 organizations ready to introduce students to enriching programs and experiences.
Exploring New Opportunities
For the first time, the Community Connections Resource Fair is offering adaptive aquatics and swim lessons for the summer. Sharkie's Swim Academy and Big Blue Swim School are partnering with Cobb Schools to showcase new ways for students with disabilities to have fun while learning new skills.
Families looking for athletic opportunities can explore programs offered by the Atlanta Braves, Party Animalz Challenger Baseball, Blaze Sports, BSDTaekwon-Do, Cobb Special Olympics, and the Georgia State Golf Association, just to name a few.
The Fernbank Museum and the Children's Museum of Atlanta offer new opportunities for students with disabilities to engage with science and history while also having fun.
Other staples of Atlanta, including Zoo Atlanta, the College Football Hall of Fame, Six Flags Over Georgia, the Fox Theatre, and the Georgia Aquarium, are also participating in the event.
Explore Accessibility and Sensory-Friendly Options
The fair’s focus on accessibility and sensory-friendly options is a key draw for families. Participating organizations represent a wide range of activities, from recreational sports and arts programs to local attractions and community services. These offerings provide families with a comprehensive look at opportunities available to students with disabilities, promoting learning, engagement, and fun beyond the classroom.
