Murdock Elementary Celebrates 50 Years of Community and Tradition

May 18, 2026 — For 50 years, Murdock Elementary School has been a place where students have learned, grown, and created lasting memories. Before the school year came to a close, the Murdock community came together to celebrate this milestone with a day dedicated to honoring the past and looking ahead to the future.
The celebration featured two special events that reconnected generations of Murdock families, staff members, and community supporters. The day began with breakfast for current and former staff members.
Guests reconnected, shared memories, and revisited decades of Murdock history through yearbooks and memorabilia displays. Student performances added a special touch to the morning celebration. Later that evening, Murdock hosted a community picnic that brought together families, students, alumni, and neighbors. Guests enjoyed food trucks, raffle activities, and fellowship as they celebrated the school’s rich history and bright future.
“Celebrating 50 years of Murdock Elementary allowed us to honor our past and celebrate our future,” said Murdock Principal Zach Mathis. “From reconnecting with former staff at our morning breakfast to bringing families together at our evening community picnic, the day reflected the strength of our school community and our continued commitment to learn, serve, and lead.”
The anniversary celebration also gave attendees a sneak peek at exciting plans to upgrade the school’s buildings and grounds. The event highlighted the strong connections among students, staff, families, and alumni while celebrating Murdock’s continued investment in the future. As Murdock Elementary marked this important milestone, the celebration served as a reminder that the school’s greatest legacy is the community that has supported it over the past five decades.
From former educators to current students and families, generations of Mustangs came together to celebrate a school that continues to make a lasting impact.
