The Cobb County School District (CCSD) is the second largest school system in Georgia and the 23rd largest in the nation. It serves 105,738 students with 112 schools, including 66 elementary schools, 26 middle schools, 17 high schools, one charter school, one special education center and one adult education center.

Academic Success and Progress
- Once again, Cobb students graduated at a higher rate than the prior graduating class and their peers across the state. In 2024, the Cobb County School District graduation rate increased to 87.9%, topping Georgia’s graduation rate of 85.4 by 2.5 percentage points. Looking back at the District’s 2015 graduation rate, the Cobb graduation rate is 6.5 percentage points higher in 2024. Read more here.
- The Cobb Class of 2023 included more than 8,400+ graduates, who earned nearly $154 million in scholarships, which dwarfed the year before by about $19 million. Read more here.
- With a SAT mean score of 1,105 out of a maximum possible 1,600 points, Cobb students led the state’s SAT average of 1,039 by 66 points and the national average of 1,024 by 81 points. The scores include the most recent for each student expected to graduate in 2024. Read more here.
- Like the SAT and graduation rate, Cobb students again outpaced their peers across Georgia and the nation. This year, Cobb students posted a 22.8 ACT average, 1.6 points above the state’s average of 21.2 and 3.4 points higher than the national ACT average of 19.4. Cobb County: A Thriving Metro Atlanta Community
- Located immediately northwest of Atlanta, Cobb County has a population of 755,754 making it Georgia's third most-populous county.
- 42.2% of residents 25 and older have earned bachelor’s degrees or higher.
- Cobb has a self-contained public transportation system and is trisected by three major interstates. The business and shopping districts feature the Galleria Centre and Cumberland Mall in the south, and Town Center Mall to the north.
- Established in 1834, Marietta is the hub of Cobb County and is a vibrant city with a bustling downtown square, historic neighborhoods and an extensive parks and recreation system.
- Hundreds of businesses are based in Cobb County, including Fortune 500 companies Lockheed Martin, The Home Depot and IBM.
- Cobb is home to Kennesaw State University one of the state’s fastest-growing public universities.
- With venues such as the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, two Six Flags theme parks, and Fifth Third Bank Stadium at KSU, a variety of cultural, recreational and sporting events take place in Cobb year-round. The Atlanta Braves baseball club joined the community in 2017. The new stadium is located in south Cobb County.
Performing and Visual Arts
NAMM Foundation & American Music Conference named Cobb among the Best Communities for Music Education 23 times.
- 32,000+ middle and high school students are enrolled in band, chorus, orchestra, general music, music technology, AP music theory, piano, and guitar, as well as theatre and dance courses.
- All elementary students receive music instruction (over 46,000).
- All high schools offer band, chorus, orchestra, and theatre programs.
- More than 200 state and national Invitational Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Concert Performances
- Magnet program at Pebblebrook High School within the Cobb County Center for Excellence in the Performing Arts (CCCEPA) offers specialized instruction in voice, drama, dance, and musical theatre. Sonic Edge, the award-winning a cappella group from Pebblebrook High School, has won the International Championship of High School A Cappella for the second consecutive year. (2025)
The Cobb County Visual Arts Program empowers all learners as creators and communicators through the visual arts.
- 20,000+ students are enrolled in visual arts elective programs: middle school art, 8th grade advanced art, high school visual arts courses including AP Drawing, AP 2D Design, AP 3D Design, and AP Art History.
- All elementary students receive visual arts instruction (over 46,000).
- Participation in over 300 art exhibits and contests at the local, state, and national level
- Collaboration with community artists, local museums and galleries, and area universities.
Nearly 1,500 Cobb seniors received Fine Arts Diploma Seals in 2025. Requirements include pathway completion in music, dance, theatre, or visual arts, fine arts community service, and performance and exhibition commitments.
- 7 elementary schools have received Cobb Arts Integration Certification.
- 3 elementary schools have received the GaDOE Creative Schools Award.
Athletics & Activities
Cobb County Schools offer a variety of extracurricular activities at all grade levels and competitive interscholastic athletics programs for high school students. Cobb prep sports teams and student groups have won these recent accolades at the state, regional, or national levels:
- 49 combined team and individual state championships this year while also seeing 8 other teams making it to the title game before finishing as the runner-up.
- Pope High School our 5A Girls Director’s Cup Winner. The school won state championships in girls' cross country, flag football, volleyball and girls track and field. This is Pope’s 1st girl’s directors cup win.
- Walton High School for the Girls, Boys and Overall Winner. The school won state championships in baseball and girls' soccer. This is Walton’s 10th girl's directors cup win and 2nd in a row, its 2nd boys win and 10th overall classification win and 2nd in a row.
- CCSD had 303 student-athletes commit to play their respective sports at the next level. 34 states and Washington D.C and 172 colleges and universities were represented
- Positive athlete: 1,379 nominations—more than any other district in Georgia.
