Senior Spotlight: Sprayberry's McKayla Davis

May 1, 2026 — Some members of Cobb's Class of 2026 are not waiting until graduation day to chase their future — they are already building it.

Over at Sprayberry High School, senior McKayla Davis has made the most of her high school experience.

Before she walks the stage and receives her diploma, McKayla will have already earned 32 dual-enrollment college credits, giving her a head start on her next chapter.

"I really wanted to be prepared going into college, because I know that my major is on the more difficult side, so I really wanted to use high school as a way to prepare myself," said McKayla.

McKayla plans to become a mechanical engineer and has already shown interest in the field in high school.

Whether it’s robotics, 3D printing or taking college-level physics classes, McKayla has big plans in STEM.

"I'm just really excited to be able to build things that hopefully make a difference and make our community better," said McKayla.

Taking the maximum amount of dual enrollment classes was hard work, and at times it was tough to balance the different types of schoolwork, but McKayla was able to do it.

Now, as a Cobb County School District graduating senior, McKayla reflects on her time at Sprayberry and how it helped shape her future.

"I'm excited to walk the stage and graduate high school. It means a lot because throughout high school, I've met a lot of fun people. I've met a lot of great teachers and administrators. So, to say goodbye, of course, is really sad. But I'm also really excited for this new chapter in my life.

McKayla plans to attend Georgia Tech in the Fall and major in mechanical engineering.
