Entering my 24th year in the Cobb County School District, it is an honor to be named principal of Simpson Middle School. I am incredibly humbled to serve as the leader of this renowned institution in such an incredibly engaged community. Though I currently reside just down the road in Roswell, I am originally from Indiana.

A native Hoosier, I graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors in Secondary Education in 2002.  I thought at that time that I would become a high school teacher but could not find a vacancy in CCSD fitting that description.  So, I happily accepted a teaching position at Dickerson Middle School, which was a life-changing decision as, 23 years later, every minute of my professional career has been in service to middle schools.  After nine years in the classroom, I moved into school administration, serving for nine years as an assistant principal at both J.J. Daniell and Dickerson Middle Schools.

I have spent the last five years as the principal at McClure Middle School and am now continuing my journey at Simpson! I am incredibly passionate about the importance of the middle school years and the work that we do with and for our students. It is my belief that, other than infancy, there is no span of years in a person’s life that they need adult guidance, honest counsel, coaching, and support more than adolescence. This has been my commitment to students throughout my career and will continue to be the work we partner to achieve together in our community. When I am not at Simpson you might see me with my wife Shari hiking local trails, checking out a concert, or just out and about at a local event. If you don’t see us there, we are probably watching the Cubs (my team) or the Braves (her team) with our two cats (Hank Aaron and Ernie Banks), or in the kitchen cooking up something amazing!

(7th grade and 8th grade A-K last names)

I come from a long line of educators, and the value of learning has been instilled in me from an early age. Originally from Mississippi, I moved to Cobb County in 2009 to begin my journey in education here. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education from Delta State University and later completed my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of teaching Social Studies in Cobb County, where I developed a deep passion for fostering student growth and academic success. I spent three years as an assistant principal at Mabry Middle School before being named an assistant principal at Simpson Middle School.

I am honored to serve at Simpson, a school renowned for its dedication to academic excellence and student success. I am committed to building strong relationships with students, families, and staff, and to supporting our school community as we strive for continued achievement. I look forward to helping every student reach their full potential and grow into a confident, capable learner.

(6th grade and 8th grade L-Z last names)

A proud East Cobb native, I have dedicated my life and career to serving the community that shaped me. After graduating from Lassiter High School, I pursued my passion for education at the University of Georgia, earning a bachelor's degree in Special Education. I continued my academic journey with a master’s degree in Special Education from Georgia State University, followed by an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Most recently, I earned my doctorate from the American College of Education.

With over 13 years of experience as a special education teacher, I transitioned into school leadership, serving as an assistant principal at Rocky Mount Elementary, Eastvalley Elementary, and Mountain View Elementary before joining the team at Simpson. My leadership is driven by a deep commitment to student success, inclusive education, and community engagement.

My husband and I have raised our two amazing daughters, Lauren and Emily, right here in East Cobb. Both are now thriving in college. In our free time, we enjoy spending time on the Marietta Square and cheering on our favorite teams—the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, and Falcons.
